Avoiding "pitfalls" in the interview is strategy helps you demonstrate your strong point and value.
Your interview is successful or not also depends very much on what you say.
Below are 9 sentences you absolutely should not say in front of employers.
1. What business is in your company?
Ask questions to show that you know the company and in the ready to work. Do not ask questions which should you need to know the answer or you can easily find information through the company's website or other mass media. Employers will be very angry and wonder: "If you do not know what business in the company, what would you do here?"
2. I do not expect too much on wages
Wages are the most sensitive issues in interview. It is certain that you want to know how to get salary and of course you like to get salary high. The interviewer knows this, and they want you to give directly your desire.
You should remember that, it's a negotiation, but not a game. When asked much, you must offer a salary level, even is a specific salary, for example "I want a salary of about 500 - $ 1,000."
If you are anxious about salary requirement too high in comparison with the job, you would ask more time to think or ask employer more things about your job to evaluate salary. Do not pretend to not be interested of it. You can also ask employers directly about the average salary for your position applying.
3. I will be crazy if selected
Maybe these are the words friends often talk to each other (it becomes your habit) but you should not say this in the interview. Using slang will make interviewers fed up. Maybe you're smart, speaking fluency, confident, but certainly you should not speak like that, it's not completely or amusing way.
4. "Bill Gates rewarded me 1000 dollars"
Do not lie! You will be detected and then you will regret it. Someday, someone will discover that you did not raise revenue within 6 months.Interviewer knows that you have exaggerated about yourself. Do not mix self-confidence up with vanity.
5. In five years later, I'll be on the Caribbean ship
When interviewer asks you about long-term goals, he/she wants to have answers related to the company. Your desire is to live in a farm could not convince him that you are an ambitious specialist in your chosen field (unless you apply for a job related to agriculture).
So if you want to show your desire, actively tell your aspirations related to professional work. Do not tell dreamy stories to waste employer's time.
6. Sorry, I do not know that again
Speaking directly your weaknesses but also emphasize your possibilities. Do not immediately refuse a position only due to lack of your confidence. You can say: I am not trained in this subject but I believe I can do it if you give me a chance.
Most companies are interested in receiving intelligent, enthusiastic and trained candidates than those meet professional requirement, but not willing to learn.
7. You know, I recently underwent a painful divorce...
Even if interviewer mentions personal life, you should also clean it aside. You think you're honest and open but you accidentally become unprofessional, lack of concentration and respect for partner. Be practical and be polite anymore.
8. What can your company do for me?
Interviewer hates arrogance and selfishness. He/she wants to know why he/she hired you. Emphasis on contributions you can do and efforts you have gained with support of old boss. Do not ask about salary, bonus and promotion yet.
9. I leave last job because my boss are really stupid
It is stupid to have not good comments about your old boss. Even as your work place is hell, boss is a "monster," colleagues are "enemies", you totally do not comment on them like that. You should say: reasons I want to find a new job is to have more responsibilities and more promotion or to be willing to change job.Listen
