A letter to The New President

Presidency and power are not possessions that you want; they are two duties which are given to you by your people.

Presidency and authority are not personal matters; they are a public vision about your personality.

Presidency and reign are not for sale or transfer; they are assets honored to you by your people, and people decide who the successor is.

Before you become the new president, remember that you are one of these people; you feel, you laugh, and you hear what people are saying.

Before you become the president, remember that you used to have friends and fellows, and they used to bless your life.

Before you become the president, don’t think that the new presidential palace will conceal your behaviors, and plug your ears.

Keep in your mind that your new house has been given up by your people to your honor, to feel comfortable and dedicate some time for their needs.

Keep in your mind that the water you will be drinking is from the same spring where people drink from, and your new kitchen should make the same foods that people eat.

Keep in your mind that your guards are not a fence between you and your people; they are just a shadow for you.

Keep in your mind that you are not going in vacation or having new resort; people lend you what you have because they believe in you. They have trust in you.

Before you become the new president, remember that people are waiting a solution, a resolution, and sympathy. Do not forget!

They are waiting a little attention from your busy schedule and crowded palace.
You don’t have to shake every hand, but just be one of them, and do not ignore their looks.
You don’t have to tap every one on the shoulder, but just feel what they have on their shoulders.

You don’t have to share caviars and cigars with them, but just make sure they don’t sleep hungry.

You don’t have to buy a car for every one, but make sure they can walk safely.

You don’t have to call everyone, but just make sure that you have time to listen to them, and console them.

You don’t have to share authority with them, but just make sure that you have loyalty for them and for the nation.

You don’t have to visit everyone, but just remember your neighborhood, the streets and the old car that you used to drive.

You don’t have to remain on your throne for ever, but they can love you for ever.

Mr. the new president; before and after the presidency you are one of those people, one of those protestors you used to shout for democracy and ask for change.

Mr. the new president; people have always the key of change, and have the ignition of revolution, and keep in your mind that the walls of the castle cannot never stop the anger of people.

Between Tunisia and Egypt there is an example of liberation and revolution, and a story of people’s anger. It is matter of a match!

Your old truly friend,
